Lucas is a band from Santa Rosa, CA. that started up in September of 1998 with Steve and Jimmy writing an acoustic song for english class. They asked Caitlin if she wanted to play their song with them and so Lucas was born. Steve came from leading Santa Rosa's punk band El Squid and Jimmy came from Santa Fe NM's ska boys The Dumpsters. Our first bass player Matt Jones had been in and out of bands with Caitlin for several years as a lead guitarist but joined Lucas playing a crazy bass. Problems arose and Matt had to leave so we recruited an old friend of Jimmy's, Jordan. The new lineup has been doing great. We are all out of high school now and Steve and Jim are going to college in Santa Rosa. Caitlin and Steve are 18, Jordan is 19, and Jimmy is 17.
So what does Lucas sound like? Our influences vary from Green Day to Sunny Day. I guess our sound is kinda like a punk influenced emo-core power rock with energy spilling out everywhere. We scream, we're soft, we're loud, we're slow, we're fast, we jump, we bleed, we sweat, we try to put out as much rock as possible. We have a pretty unique sound but are not totally unlike The Get Up Kids, Cursive or No Knife, maybe a hint of the Weezeresque sound, or Blink 182 style punk. (if you can imagine that) Your guess is as good as mine.
